About The Skeptographers

The Concept

The Skeptographers is a podcast that aims to make participation in skeptical podcasting more accessible to everyone, even if they aren't involved with a skeptical community in their area. The podcast will be made up entirely of 1-8 minute segments that have been contributed to the show by members of the community. If your thing is discussing myths in one minute, recording skeptical music, or debunking something in depth, we’d like you to get involved!

Our goal with this project is to allow for a diverse range of people within the skeptical community the forum to share their ideas and passions with others in the community. The Skeptographers aims to encourage a plurality of opinions and a forum for open debate of beliefs, assumptions, and other seldom examined ideas held by societies.

How to Contribute

Who can get involved? Anyone (especially you)!

The Skeptographers website allows anyone to propose a segment for the podcast. Once a proposal is approved, an audio segment can be uploaded. Audio segments are then vetted by the community, and finally packaged into an episode for release. Then the world over gets a chance to revel in our skeptical analysis and acerbic wit.

About the Show

Each show will be about 22 minutes long, with new episodes initially being released every second week. The Skeptographers podcast is a compilation of recorded segments that have been contributed and approved by the community. The show's production team (based out of Edmonton, Alberta) will factor in themes, topic variety, and time considerations in choosing which community approved segments are included in an episode. That means that certain segments may not appear in the show right away -- but the team is dedicated to ensuring that all community-approved recordings eventually make it in.

History

Decended from ancient Aztec gods, the Skeptographers have been a force for truth in the universe since February 30, 1507. The episodes are written in the ancient language of Mu and translated into Arabic before being inscribed on sheets of naugahide, which is harvested from the rare and endangered Pacific Nauga. Every podcast is recorded in front of a live studio audience in the Skepticave, located at the top of mount Olympus. It is then carried by Mercury as he rides upon his glorious winged steed Pegasus and snuck onto your iPod (even if you don't think you own an iPod) in the middle of the night.

The mystical emanations of the podcast can not be sensed by the human ear, but instead have a direct impact upon the prefrontal lobe of those afflicted with belief. Skeptographers never sleep, locked in constant battle with Agnostics and their heathen god Agnos.

And of course if you believe any of this history, you really need to learn more about skepticism by listening to The Skeptographers.
